Michael Gruber
Founder and Principal Designer
Michael brings an artists’ eye and consideration to every project. Formerly an artist-photographer with a degree from Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts), he began designing interiors in 1984. His eponymous company, Michael Gruber Design, has gained a reputation for seamlessly mixing historic references with modern decorative arts.
In addition, Michael has brought his unique background as an artist and experience as a designer together to craft an extensive array of Fine and Decorative Art exhibition designs. He has retired from the executive board of Collab, a group of design professionals that support the decorative arts at the Philadelphia Museum of Art after establishing the Collab Journal and is currently an Allied Member of ASID. He actively gives back to the community through designing the Alex's Lemonade Stand Great Chefs Event annually since it's inception. Michael Gruber also designed Eat Cafe, a pay what you can afford restaurant for the community surrounding Drexel University, where he also guest critiques student designers.
